God created us to prepare the earth as the dwelling place of God with mankind. ExcellentThought looks at how we should go about doing that from the perspectives of faith, policy, and culture.
My exploration of this is built on years of work as a professional public policy analyst with years of study as an amateur theologian and economist. I try to combine these passions in order to provide a scriptural view of the many challenges that we face every day.
A native Texan, I took a detour through Colorado to earn a bachelors in history from the University of Northern Colorado along with a brief stint in retail before settling down to get an M.B.A. from the University of Houston and beginning my career in public policy in Austin in 1989.
After an early introduction to the Episcopal Church in my youth, I also took a detour from my faith before God faithfully brought me home to be baptized in 1994. I currently attend, with my wife Kelly and son William, a reformed church in Austin, Texas.
While unbelievers completely ignore Scripture in every aspect of life, I am convinced that believers—even orthodox, evangelical believers—too often do much the same thing. The Bible offers far more assistance for cosmologists seeking the origins of the universe and policymakers seeking to deal with poverty and prosperity than most will give it credit. I pray that my work will assist those of us inside (and those outside) the church to better understand what Scripture can teach us about God’s plan for preparing His kingdom here on earth as the dwelling place for God and man together.
