What I’ve Been Reading, Listening to, and Watching this Week: Too-Stupid-to-Survive Edition
Too Stupid to Survive
What Mark Steyn says: On Monday the Attorney-General of the United States addressed the National Sheriffs Association thus: “I want to thank every sheriff in America. … The office of sheriff is a critical part of the Anglo-American heritage of law enforcement. We must never erode this historic office.” After which the world went nuts, starting with a CNN pearl-clutcher of a headline: Sessions invokes ‘Anglo-American heritage’ of sheriff’s office. The fact that expensively educated but ignorant reporters thought the phrase newsworthy made it even newsworthier – after which its newsworthiness became accusatory. Newsweek: Jeff Sessions Faces Fresh Racism Charge After Praising ‘Anglo-American Heritage of Law Enforcement’.
My Take: Of course, Anglo-American in this context is referring to the English beginnings of our legal system, not to white people and where they came from. But this hasn’t stopped the liberals from blowing up on Sessions. Steyn goes on to point out that liberal Harvard law professor Laurence Tribe (who criticized Sessions) and Barak Obama have both used the term “Anglo-American legal tradition”–Obama multiple times. But as Steyn cautions, “sometimes a society becomes too stupid to survive.”
Glass ceiling for dogs? Males win Westminster almost twice as often
What Stephanie Kelly (Reuters) Says: Females are less likely to compete at Westminster, the second-oldest U.S. sporting event after the Kentucky Derby. Ahead of this year’s opening day on Monday, there were 1,220 female competitors and 1,699 male challengers enrolled in most categories, including vying to be named top dog on Tuesday at Madison Square Garden. … Female dogs, known in pure-bred circles as “bitches,” have snared Best in Show at Westminster 39 times since the award was first given in 1907. Males, known simply as “dogs,” have been victorious 71 times, almost twice as often.
My Take: Of course, male dogs are not the target here–they have no control over what happens. One might think then the human males are the target, and to some extent that would be correct–the line would be that American culture is so male-dominated that the effects even trickle down to dog shows. But make no mistake about it; the real target is God the Father. Eliminating males as the heads of families, as the sole qualified applicants to be pastors and priests, etc., is targeted directly at God. Or, more precisely, it is targeted at the subjects of God’s kingdom–all of us–to try to get us to believe that He does not exist. Because if they can in our consciousness turn God into a mother, or into a planetary spirit, etc., then turning Him into a myth is only a few steps away.
Fort Worth ISD Official Warns Hispanic Students About “White America”
What Erin Anderson (Empower Texans) Says: “Fort Worth ISD District 1 Trustee Jacinto “Cinto” Ramos, Jr. addressed the assembly. North Star’s student body is 95 percent Hispanic. … “Two things I want to teach you,” Ramos told the students. “One is a theory called Critical Race Theory – that none of this is an accident, that the social construct of race is working exactly the way it was designed to work, which is to divide us.” … UCLA’s School of Public Affairs describes Critical Race Theory: “CRT recognizes that racism is engrained in the fabric and system of the American society. The individual racist need not exist to note that institutional racism is pervasive in the dominant culture.”
My Take: Many majority white Christian denominations have been focused in recent years on repenting of their racism. Repenting of sins is a good thing, and if one’s sin includes being a racist, one should repent of it. Yet spending too much time contemplating such things appears to be a waste of time, according to Critical Race Theory. Even if no white individuals are racist, “institutional [white] racism [will still be] pervasive in the dominant culture.”
America is resisting Trump’s onslaught. Just don’t get cocky
What Max Boot (Washington Post) Says: “Little wonder, then, that Trump admires dictators such as Vladimir Putin, Xi Jinping, Abdel Fatah al-Sissi and Recep Tayyip Erdogan. He even praised Nursultan Nazarbayev of Kazakhstan, a cartoonish thug who won “reelection” with 97.7 percent of the vote, for having “done a great, great job.” By contrast, Trump drips disdain for democratically elected allies such as German Chancellor Angela Merkel and British Prime Minister Theresa May; he just picked another fight with May over the National Health Service. The reason Trump likes the dictators, I suspect, is that he wants to be just like them. He, too, wishes that he could “win” 97.7 percent of the vote.”
My Take: Boot’s gripes with Trump include that “He thinks the FBI, too, is guilty of ‘treason’ for investigating his campaign ties to Russia. He calls for his political opponent, a former secretary of state and first lady, to be prosecuted. He labels the news media the ‘enemy of the American people.’ He describes the judiciary as a ‘joke’ and a ‘laughingstock.’ He believes the ‘Deep State’ is conspiring against him.” I suspect these views are not too far removed from the vast majority of the people who voted for Trump. So it is hard for me to understand how Boot can say that “America is resisting Trump’s onslaught.”
